I bring a combination of personal experience, professional training, and holistic wellness knowledge that I believe will enhance my ability to support a woman in labor:
Empathy and firsthand experience: As a mother of two, including caring for a newborn and toddler without outside help, I understand the emotional and physical challenges of childbirth and early parenthood.
Yoga and prenatal/postpartum expertise: With over 20 years of yoga practice and certification in prenatal and postpartum yoga, I can guide breathing, relaxation, and gentle movement techniques to support comfort and focus during labor.
Holistic wellness knowledge: I am trained in massage, pressure point techniques, cupping therapy, aromatherapy, and the use of natural oils, all of which can help reduce tension and support overall well-being.
Cultural and nutritional knowledge: My understanding of Chinese confinement practices, Traditional Chinese Medicine, belly binding, and nutritional strategies (including for gestational diabetes) allows me to provide culturally sensitive and practical postpartum guidance.
Calm and supportive presence: I am committed to being a steady, patient, and nonjudgmental presence, helping the birthing person feel safe, empowered, and respected throughout labor.
Together, these strengths allow me to offer comprehensive, compassionate support that addresses the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of women in labor.
